for an electric helicopter..would you want a higher kv for higher rpm's or a lower kv for more torque?
this would be for hard 3d
As long as you can keep the headspeed above a certain threshold, say 2000-3000 depending on the disc loading, go for torque.
Example:
Hornet setup #1 (I tried the recommended Blade CP setup):
4100 kv * 11.1 V * 14 tooth pinion / 180 tooth main = 3539 rpm
#2 (the recommended Hornet setup)
2208 kv * 11.1 V * 25 tooth pinion / 180 tooth main = 3404 rpm
The second setup is far less boggy and feels noticeably more powerful. The first setup required a flat hover to respool the head after every flip.

thanks jake...just thinkin about skorpianizing the 250
Is that the same motor scorpion makes for the Gaui? I had thought about it too.
Does the 250 have the same head bog we were seing on my gaui?
also check out the TonicX, the Gaui Scorpions kind of sucked I guess, but these were the bombnation. bottom of the page:

And, I might be wrong about headspeed on the 250's. You might want to go with the most you can get; I think headspeed and weight instead of torque might be more of an issue for 3d flight with a micro. Don't know.
I just remember everyone oogling over insane videos of the higher kv TonicX. Check out Bert Krammerer and do whatever he does.

the 250 definately does not have as much head bog as the gaui did...i am very amazed on how well the 250 flew actually
i am going to try new batteries, carbon blades, and a 15t pinion to see what kind of a little machine i can make it
