I have a friend who is thinking of joining the club, and he is also looking for a bigger heli. He asked me today about this Blueray 450. Does anyone know anything about it, good, bad, just okay?? Below is the xheli link. Thanks for any input.:)

For that same dollar amount you could get a blade 400, and be able to buy parts locally.

What he said, plus the radio of the Blade 400 is really good

But I bet the 'ol Blueray could use T-Rex 450 parts.

Where can you buy a BLade 400 3D RTF for $330? Please tell..

you would probably be looking around $400

but being able to get parts locally would make a huge difference in the long run.

with the blade 400 you get great customer support (horizon hobby) and very reasonably priced parts.

I'm sorry, I thought it said $399.

The problem I have with most of the offbrand stuff like this is that if you need parts you have to order them in. Might not be a big deal to some, but for me it is frustrating because I try to get in a flight or two every day if possible...

The 250 is a prime example. Great little heli, but parts are scarce and even if you can find them you have to order them from california or texas which takes 3-4 days to come up. So if you crash in the middle of the week, you can't fly it on the weekend unless you stock up on parts. Even then you make break something you didn't plan on...

The blueray looks like a cool little heli though. Search the forums(helifreak.com or runryder.com) and see if you can find any info on them. Post your research here if you wouldn't mind.

After going back and reading it appears to be a t-rex 450 copy... It said this:

While most parts are compatible with the world's most popular 450 size electric helicopter such as the T-REX450, the BlueRay450 PE is designed with the best features available while eliminating all the weak points from the current T-REX SE. All the hardware is high A-Grade with all hex screws supplied and high quality Germany-imported bearings.

Yes, it sounds like a Trex 450 clone. In that case maybe not a bad deal except for the radio. But I wonder if the rcvr would bind to a DX6i transmitter or not? Something to check out.

I know my buddy wants to move up from his Lama V4, but money is also tight for him. Hopefully someone out there owns one of those Bluerays so I can get a first hand report.

If I could spend his money for him I would probably suggest the Blade 400 also. I think it is a fine heli for learning and basic flying, and maybe some softer 3D stuff. Not sure about the 3D yet other than what I can do in the sim.

Thanks for the input.

I'll he gets one I'll fly it and give a report

As for binding that receiver you'll have to check to be sure but I don't think it's possible. Some day maybe, but for now companies are still being selfish and making every buck they can by keeping rx codes secret. Maybe in 17 years.

For about $70 I can buy you a spektrum reciever and bind the heli for you. :D
