The stock 450 v2 head dampening is rather sloppy. Should I tighten it up and if so any suggestions on the best method?

Every V2 that's I've come across does that. The V1 head was much tighter. Not sure why they changed it to be honest.

Well I have a set of the new dampeners for v2 that are one piece but they seem sloppy too so I went a different route. I originally there are two rubber dampeners per side in the v2 head. I replaced the inner two dampeners with v1 dampeners. Seems to have worked pretty well it's nice and tight now. If this doesn't hold up I'll go to the new 1 piece dampeners and shims. If that fails I'll throw away the dampeners and get machined brass inserts >.<

Don't go rigid. Information indicates thats not a good way to go. You may want to try these on your 450. I'm using them on my 500 with the stock poly tube insert also. I also used the hard green in the 700N when it lived:doh:

Green TrueBlood Trex 450 V2, V3, Pro Super Hard Dampeners

I switched to the Mavrik G5 Pro wide cords I got from KK today. What a difference, I'm liking them.

It's not super rigid like the brass inserts would be but it feels like there is no slop in it now. I was joking about the inserts.

It did pretty good today. I was quite happy. Only problem was a little blade tracking issue after swapping out the dampeners, feathering shaft and blades.

Well I was going over everything when I got home and I found my blade tracking problem. The screw in the ball link on the blade grip was 1-2 flights from coming out. Sign to go over all those screws you have not revisited since your aircraft was assembled and maybe clean/relocktite them.

Those blade grips have seen a hundred flights easy so I know I'm due on some things. Proof that visual inspection is not always enough I suppose. You just can't beat a good twist now and then to make sure its not sitting in the threads loose.

I was actually about to fly so it's a good thing I was checking the head and noticed some slop on one side. I also noticed I can see the balls move up and down in the original pitch links I made way back when. Those are going in the trash too. I also managed to address some phasing play in my swash that was pretty bad. Nice and solid now. Can't wait to try it :D

Ok I lied, im EXTREMELY happy with it. I was doing things today that I've only done with the 600 and it felt better than the 600. I was flying fast circles with half flips every 180 and I swear it yawned at me on the way by. I also tried piro flips which I've never done and it exited out of my failed attemps like it wanted to try again.

I've made some changes to setting per suggestions from Skookum but I'm far from having it dialed in. I did see a couple burps but I was too pleased to even want to try to fix it yet.

Anxious to get the one back from Skookum to put in my 600 now.
