I got new toys to put together so I was home working on that. I love the 450 Pro and I hate the 450 Pro. I had heard it was a wiring nightmare. Turns out it's true! I thought about going flybarless with it and a Skookum. After looking at SK360 mounting options, not so much.

Looking forward to beating some 450's into submission this year.

New website is coming together nicely. Just to make you wonder, it does not have a forum and has nothing to do with producs or reviews.

Default Flying Mishaps

As Steve said in another thread, he and I went to the farmer's field to fly today. Kind of a spur of the moment decision for me. I got there about 1 or so.

It was a bit windy for a 3 channel Schoolboy but it was fun anyway. The last time I flew there, (on meeting night) I was trying to land on the road next to a line of trees. I let it get too slow and ended up crashing into some brush.
No damage but the prop. Today I was trying a low pass to determine if I could land there. Same darn thing happened. I guess I can't accurately judge the speed when it is coming right at me, especially in gusty wind.

This time I invented a new half back flip with a pirouette flop on the nose thing. I would have never thought a 3 channel plane could do a maneuver like that. And I don't think I will try it at that altitude again.

I guess I gotta get the ailerons installed and maybe I could avoid stuff like this. Or, better yet fly within my skill level.

So I broke the needle valve mount, the prop and my shiney new red spinner that I just bought on Friday. It looks like it cracked the side wall a little too. All in all not too bad for how hard it hit the road. The schoolboy is pretty tough. Now I'm glad I put that 1/4" firewall in it.

As Steve said we stopped by the field and no one was there. Must have been about 5:00 by then. I was surprised and disappointed. I was hoping to shoot the breeze with a few people.

On my way home, I saw someone doing some pretty decent 3d flying at Grassfield with what looked like a 700. I haven't seen anyone flying there since last fall.

Happy flying

Sounds like you had fun Ed. Thats whats important and you learn alot from those piro flops. As far as flying within your own limits.... what fun is that I don't know any helicoptor pilots that follow that rule, must be a planker thing hehe.
