Talking The Radikal Gasser!!

I have went to the dark side once again and bought a non-Align heli. I have spent some time trying to figure out what electronics to put in it.

So far I have come up with this list.

Edit: added pricing for comparison. Servo pricing is from Servo City. The other stuff is from mfg websites.
Cyclic servos: HS-7940TH, $120 ea.
Tail servo: DS-8417, $115 ea.
Throt servo: DS-821, $30 ea.
FBL controller: Axiom 720, $350 ea.
Castle Creations BEC #010-0004-00, $25
Castle Creations USB link, #C-Link, $25
Rcvr AR7xxx or AR9xxx, (not sure yet),

Not sure on battery power yet either.

Anyone have any suggestions good or bad as to my choices?

Doug, would you be willing to quote me pricing on these items? A PM would be fine. I am probably going to order in a couple weeks.

Thanks, Steve.

You should talk to: maxhshv he has one of these and has done all the research and thought into building / setting up the radical. He lives in Bemidji, so it might be worth a trip up there to see his.

Not sure how much time he spends here, I know he stops in once in a while. But he lives on the gasser forum on RunRyder.

There are also 2-3 threads (RunRyder) on the Radikal gasser that cover set ups, build tips and items along that line. As you read these threads, there is a guy named Billme, he is the one that talked about the Radikal on inside heli, flown gassers for years and is one of the test pilots for the Radikal, so you might want to pay extra attention to him.

Hey Paul,

I have seen maxhshv on HeliFreak allot. I have been reading HF and RR when I can, which is usually late at night when I am falling asleep.

I did not know about Billme. I have seen that name before, but now I will go back and search for his postings.

Thanks, Steve.

I figured I would see what my club guys thought about my servo selections. I know some of these guys have done this allot so I figured they would have good insight.

It would be nice if there was a spreadsheet that would tell you what servos to use based on heli size, rotor mass, cyclic and pitch control, flying style, etc.... That would be

Eric,

People are starting to say that the Align FBL system is just a rebranded Gaui. Heard anything about that?

Eric, I added pricing I found to my original post for you. I will look up the specs on the servo pack you have and see what I think. I will check out the Skookum 720, and the others tonight.

I'll get back to ya!!

If those servos are the DS8717HV then SOLD. Mark me down for a 3 pack. If they are not the HV's then NO.

I see more specs now. It does not say is has a built in rcvr, just ports for the sat ones. Don't I first need a mian rcvr, and then the sat ones?? Also, what is the price for everything I would need to use it??

Thanks!!!
